J9 have enjoyed the topic of toys. The toys we focused ón were teddy bears, balls and cars. We even had a teddy bear picnic with our favourite teddy bears from home.

This term has been fun and fast paced for T2. We have got into the swing of our new routine and are doing all our class jobs with increasing independence and responsibility. The group are really enjoying BMC every Friday where we are learning independent cookery and household skills and getting out and about on trips around Belfast. Some of the group have been attending AEL for work experience and are making great progress each week. T2 have had lots of fun taking part in team games with the sports coach, swimming, yoga and going on regular walks to keep active.

S6 have been very busy getting all their ASDAN work done. We have enjoyed cooking our own lunches and having fun in science where we are learning about movement. The class planned and prepared a Halloween Party for their friends in S2 and S5 where we all had a great time – all the tasty treats were made by the class.

J8 have been busy in October, we have been learning about Autumn and all of the wonderful changes that happen. During Physical Education we have been working on different types of movements, including rolling! We have enjoyed our messy play, including our Halloween themed play. We enjoyed dressing up for the Halloween Parade on the last day of term. Well done J8!

J7 have been very busy in October learning about Autumn and Halloween. We went on a walk and collected leaves for our sensory play and for our Autumn display board. J7 have had lots of fun decorating pumpkins, doing ghost and feet painting as well as leaf printing. We enjoyed cookery this month where we made scary ghost biscuits and firework breadsticks. We also had lots of fun at our Halloween party and got to have lots of snacks whilst dancing in our disco.

J4 have been very busy and have all settled in very well. We have been practicing our social skills during break times and outings. We really enjoy music and singing our songs in circle time and we are working hard on are Makaton signs and actions. The boys have been able to experience different smells, colours and textures through our all about me and autumn topics. We all enjoy art and cookery in J4. The boys have also been practicing their skills in PE and developing their gross motor skills during soft play and outdoor play. Our sensory area in the classroom is well used and we are enjoying activities such as Tacpac and attention autism.

J3 have had a busy start to the year and our favourite activity in school is cookery. The boys and girls all enjoyed making mini pizzas especially sprinkling on the cheese. Getting to eat the pizzas was even better though and some of the children took seconds! We are really enjoying sensory play and we are getting even better at sharing the sensory trays to play alongside our friends.

J1 have been really busy in October learning about Autumn and the changes that happen during the season. We talked about animals that come out at night when it is starting to get dark earlier in the day, and all the colours the leaves change before they fall from the trees. We’re working on balancing and peddling during P.E. and outdoor play, and had loads of fun making new friends with P1 from Rosstulla during our first Shared Education Play Date. We had a great time taking part in lots of Halloween activities during the last week of October and dressing up for the party.

J1 are settling well into school. It’s been a busy month for everyone being P1 with lots of things to get used to like staying longer in school, having dinners and going on educational outings. Our topic is ‘Getting to know you’ and this is exactly what we’ve been doing. There has been lots of art, lots of mess and lots of fun as we made face biscuits, our school bus and painted our special hands and feet. We’ve been out for break a couple of times and all enjoyed getting sausages then going to the park with our friends in J2.

We have had a very busy start to our new school year in J11. We have had lots of fun during our cookery lessons, learning to pour, sieve, mix and measure; of course we’ve had lots of fun making a mess too!! We have been enjoying all the surprises of Attention Autism and have begun to create some beautiful Autumn artwork. Even with all this hard work we have managed to find some time to relax and enjoy our lights and sensory rooms.
