J4 have been very busy and have all settled in very well. We have been practicing our social skills during break times and outings. We really enjoy music and singing our songs in circle time and we are working hard on are Makaton signs and actions. The boys have been able to experience different smells, colours and textures through our all about me and autumn topics. We all enjoy art and cookery in J4. The boys have also been practicing their skills in PE and developing their gross motor skills during soft play and outdoor play. Our sensory area in the classroom is well used and we are enjoying activities such as Tacpac and attention autism.

J3 have had a busy start to the year and our favourite activity in school is cookery. The boys and girls all enjoyed making mini pizzas especially sprinkling on the cheese. Getting to eat the pizzas was even better though and some of the children took seconds! We are really enjoying sensory play and we are getting even better at sharing the sensory trays to play alongside our friends.

J1 have been really busy in October learning about Autumn and the changes that happen during the season. We talked about animals that come out at night when it is starting to get dark earlier in the day, and all the colours the leaves change before they fall from the trees. We’re working on balancing and peddling during P.E. and outdoor play, and had loads of fun making new friends with P1 from Rosstulla during our first Shared Education Play Date. We had a great time taking part in lots of Halloween activities during the last week of October and dressing up for the party.

J1 are settling well into school. It’s been a busy month for everyone being P1 with lots of things to get used to like staying longer in school, having dinners and going on educational outings. Our topic is ‘Getting to know you’ and this is exactly what we’ve been doing. There has been lots of art, lots of mess and lots of fun as we made face biscuits, our school bus and painted our special hands and feet. We’ve been out for break a couple of times and all enjoyed getting sausages then going to the park with our friends in J2.

We have had a very busy start to our new school year in J11. We have had lots of fun during our cookery lessons, learning to pour, sieve, mix and measure; of course we’ve had lots of fun making a mess too!! We have been enjoying all the surprises of Attention Autism and have begun to create some beautiful Autumn artwork. Even with all this hard work we have managed to find some time to relax and enjoy our lights and sensory rooms.

Here in S4 we have a very busy class made up of pupils from both Key Stage 3 and 4. We love working with our friends in S3 to make our learning more fun. We are focusing on developing our communication skills and social skills this term as well as working on our independent life skills within our community. We have enjoyed starting our cookery, art, swimming and music lessons so far as well as our trip to the Rinkha on the bus. Our theme this term is Marvellous Me and we are enjoying getting to know our new friends.

J14 have had a busy and fun start to the term. Our topic has been ‘All About Me’ and we have been learning more about ourselves and about our classmates. We have been working hard on our literacy and numeracy skills as well as taking part in lots of other activities throughout the week.

We have really enjoyed meeting together with S1 for PE on a Tuesday afternoon and again on a Friday morning for circle time. We have enjoyed playing some parachute games, and we created our very own J14 and S1 name web.

In art we have been creating our Monster Glyphs and doing artistic impressions of ourselves using clay and collage materials. For cookery, we have been busy making top hats and pizza faces.

We have really enjoyed our bus outings so far, we have been developing our social skills and life skills going out for break in cafes and doing out cookery shopping in Tescos. We also managed a visit to a local park – it’s been great fun!

We take part in music, signing and sensory activities alongside Attention Autism, Tac Pac and body awareness to help us learn, develop new skills and meet our targets. We are very busy having fun learning to grow in J4.

J2 is a foundation stage class made up with Primary 1 pupils. In our class we enjoy a play based approach to learning throughout our school day in all areas of the NI Curriculum which is adjusted to suit our needs. We focus on developing social and communication skills such as listening, following instructions, making requests and waiting our turn, and forming good habits to promote future learning and development. We are very busy throughout the school day and enjoy using our outdoor areas, the lights rooms and sensory areas to do Tac Pac and reflexology and soft play to burn off some energy. We also love Attention Autism, music, singing and sensory play activities.

We’re a very busy class but we make sure to have lots of fun during the day too.
